Had the opportunity to be a representative of Biodiversity Warriors to participate in Green Camp activities with 2 other friends of mine, namely, Winda and Ayu. This Green Camp activity is the 6th Green Camp held by RMI since 2011. However, since 2015, this activity has been managed by a volunteer platform and young environmental facilitator named Volunteers for Life (R4L) as an effort to empower young people in environmental and agrarian issues. The facilitators of this activity are young people who have participated in the Green Camp in previous years.
For three days, these young people gathered, shared experiences, and learned from the people of Kampung Ciwaluh and Cipeucang and resource persons from various institutions, including from the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (GGPN) and from village elders. Carrying the theme "Reduce, Reuse, Refuse", this time the Green Camp invites participants to understand the agrarian and environmental situation from the upstream region, to begin to understand spatial governance in Indonesia, while also learning more practical knowledge and skills related to the waste issue that is becoming a major issue. scourge in both urban and rural areas. They also develop skills in processing waste through the method of making eco-bricks and how to turn waste into planting media.
In addition, these young people are invited to become more familiar with and learn to analyze environmental and social situations through the method of going around the village and talking to local people to obtain information through in-depth observation methods.
This time the green camp was attended by youth communities from various groups of women and youth who have been actively networking with RMI, starting from Biodiversity Warriors, Jaringan River Watch Group, Jaringan Suara Muda Nusantara, Teens Go Green, Diaspora, youth from Cibarani Village, Wates Village. Jaya, Lebak Regency, Sindanglaya Village, Bogor Regency, and the general public from DKI Jakarta, Depok, and Bekasi.
